YEIDA Resolves Decade Long Land Acquisition Issue Allottees in Sector 33 to Finally Receive Plots

The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) has taken steps to resolve the long standing issue of land acquisition for 52 allottees in Sector 33. After a decade of delay, the authority has acquired the land and plans to complete the acquisition process for three more allottees. This article explores the recent developments and the state governments response to plot allotment without proper land acquisition.

Officials have confirmed that they are in the process of acquiring land for three additional allottees, and the acquisition process is nearing completion. Once the acquisition is finalised, the authority plans to develop the plots and hand them over to the respective allottees by August 30 this year.

The issue came to the publics attention last year when around 30 to 35 industrialists submitted an RTI query to YEIDA, seeking information about the status of their allocated land. YEIDA CEO Arun Vir Singh took note of the matter and assured the entrepreneurs that the land would be acquired, and they would gain possession of their plots.

In 2013, YEIDA allotted 144 plots to industrialists in Sector 33. However, due to some confusion, the Yamuna Authority had not acquired land for 55 plots.

The acquisition of more than 18 acres of land in Murad Garhi village and its neighbouring areas is crucial for YEIDA to complete various development projects, including sewerage, drainage, and street lighting. Officials have stated that the allottees will receive possession of their plots once the development work is finished.

It is noteworthy that the state government has taken serious notice of the problem of allocating plots without proper land acquisition in both the Noida Authority and the Yamuna Authority. In May, an order was issued requiring land acquisition before the launch of any plot scheme.

The government has issued strict instructions to all industrial development authorities in the state to comply with this directive. This decision was prompted by an observation made by the Allahabad High Court in a similar case.
