Uttar Pradesh Noida like Township to Come Up in Bundelkhand Region

The government recognizes that industrialization has been primarily concentrated in Noida and Greater Noida, causing other parts of Uttar Pradesh to lag behind, negatively impacting the states economy.

LUCKNOW The Uttar Pradesh government has initiated plans for an ambitious project to establish a new industrial township in the Jhansi and Lalitpur area, similar to Noida and Greater Noida.

The government recognizes that industrialization has been primarily concentrated in Noida and Greater Noida, causing other parts of Uttar Pradesh to lag behind, negatively impacting the states economy. As a result, the government is advocating for another industrial township to be established in the Bundelkhand region.

Although the project is still in its early stages, sources indicate that the necessary initial budget may be sourced from the provisions for industrial development in the state budget for 2023 to 2024. Alternatively, funds may be drawn from the Rs 8,000 crore allocated for industrial development in the supplementary budget passed in December 2022.

With the Yogi Adityanath governments focus on infrastructure development in the region, the implementation of the industrial township idea is feasible.

Sources state that creating a new industrial township in Bundelkhand will generate employment opportunities and boost the regions economy. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has emphasized equal development opportunities for all regions of the state and encouraged investors to consider investing in areas other than NCR.

The finance minister, Suresh Khanna, has also made provisions for the construction of the Jhansi and Chitrakoot link expressways in addition to the operational Bundelkhand Expressway, further highlighting the governments commitment to the regions infrastructure development.

UPs finance minister initially proposed the suggestion for a new industrial township during a pre budget meeting, which received positive feedback from officials, prompting the state government to commence preparations. Finance Minister Suresh Khanna has confirmed that the idea is under consideration but declined to provide further details.
