State approves metro extension route connecting Palam Vihar

The Haryana government has approved the final DPR of the Metro rail project between Palam Vihar, Gurgaon and Sector 21, Dwarka, in a meeting chaired by the States CM. With seven stations spread across the 8.4 km route, the project aims at reducing traffic plying on the roads.

The Haryana Cabinet recently approved the final Detailed Project Report (DPR) of the Metro rail connectivity project between Rezangla Chowk, Palam Vihar, Gurgaon and Sector 21, Dwarka. Haryana Chief Minister (CM) Manohar Lal Khattar chaired the meeting with an aim to improve connectivity between these two points. The CM also approved the gross project cost along with the State governments share of more than Rs 1,500 crore.

Palam Vihar Dwarka Sector 21 MRTS

An overview
As per DPR, the extension line between Rezangla Chowk, Gurgaon and Sector 21, Dwarka stations will be 8.4 km long. The four km stretch will be between Palam Vihar and Sector 111, Gurgaon, while the remaining 4.4 km will be between Sector 111, Gurgaon and Sector 21, Dwarka. A total of seven stations will serve this route.

The benefits of Palam Vihar Dwarka Sector 21 MRTS
The Mass Rapid Transport System (MRTS) project aims to provide easy connectivity from Gurgaon to Delhi. There will be interchanges on Gurgaon Metro corridor at Palam Vihar station, Airport Express Metro corridor at IECC station and Delhi Metros Blue Line at Dwarka Sector 21 station.

Moreover, the MRTS will also have an interchange with Dwarka Expressway at Sector 110A, thus enhancing the efficiency of the transportation system in the National Capital Region (NCR). The passengers travelling to Delhi Airport will be able to check-in at the Dwarka Sector 21 station, too.

Additionally, the new system is aimed at reducing the number of buses, private vehicles, and other public transport plying on the roads, significantly bringing down the noise and air pollution.
