Key Highlights Of The Rural Housing Interest Subsidy Scheme
The Rural Housing Interest Subsidy Plan provides financial support to rural residents in the form of subsidies on the interest rate of home loans received by them from banks and other financial institutions.
From the moment the loan was approved, the subsidy is available for three years.
Up to Rs. 2 lakhs in total loans are eligible for this subsidy. However, the subsidy will be determined according to the principal loan amount if the amount is less than Rs. 2 lakhs.
Rural residents who fall within the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) and Low Income Groups (LIG) are eligible for the interest subsidy.
The total amount of all outstanding loans and the interest rate that the lending institution charges are used to determine the subsidy amount.
The borrowers bank account is immediately credited with the subsidy amount.
Only individual home loan customers are covered under the programme no commercial or company loans are included.
National Housing Bank (NHB) is implementing the programme in collaboration with public sector banks and other lending organizations.
The programme is open to households making up to Rs. 6 lakh annually.
In accordance with the plan, the government offers a 20 year interest subsidy of up to 3% of the loan amount.
All housing loan kinds, including loans for building, buying, renovating, and repairing homes, are included in the scheme.
A network of partner banks and non-banking financial organisations implements the plan (NBFCs).
Every citizen who lives in a rural area and qualifies for a loan is eligible to participate in the programme.
