Noida Residents worry about flat registries in Sports City

Despite several promises, the failure to initiate construction work for Sports City compelled residents of in Sector 79, Noida to write a letter to PM Narendra Modi. The incomplete work has delayed flat registries of several residential societies.

Highlighting the pending registry of flats and other related issues, the residents of Sports City, Sector 79, Noida, have written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. They have highlighted that the progress has not been made despite orders from the authorities. The residents have also requested an examination of the sports facilities in the residential projects.

What do the residents say?
Residents believe that while the last move by the Noida Authority is applaud worthy, little progress has actually happened in this direction. It seems to be more inclined in the direction of developing sports facilities in Sector 150, Noida instead of in Sector 79. While Sector 79 houses around 200 families, sports city work is yet to start here. Moreover, the flat registries have also been withheld.

What is the case?
The Noida Authority had allotted around 34 lakh sqm area to four developers in various sectors, including Sectors 78, 79, 101, 150, and 152 between 2014 and 2017. The developers were supposed to develop sports facilities on at least 70 percent of the land allocated to them and keep the remaining for residential purposes. Most of the developers have not yet completed the sports facilities.

What are the details of the letter?
The residents have highlighted in their letter to the PM that the Noida Authority had formed a committee to resolve pending issues pertaining to the Sports City development at the beginning of 2021. The committee was also to look into the registry of flats. The panel submitted its report to the UP government for further procedure in July last year. However, no steps have been taken in the direction of resolving the issues so far.

What is Noida Authoritys take on the case?
Noida Authority claims that they are in the process of hiring a firm to determine if the developers are following the rulebook or not. The firm will have to submit its report within 30 days.
