Noida International Airport to Connect with Yamuna and Delhi to Mumbai Expressway, Receives Rs 537 Crore From NHAI

According to reports, the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has allocated Rs 537 crore for the planned connectivity of the Noida International Airport to the Yamuna Expressway and Delhi-Mumbai Expressway. A 750 meter elevated road will be constructed to establish a direct connection between the Jewar international airport and the Yamuna Expressway.

At the 30th km point on the Yamuna Expressway, where it intersects with the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, the NHAI will build an interchange. The construction of this interchange, covering 19 hectares of land, will commence soon, with an expenditure of Rs 179 crore.

Furthermore, an additional connection between the airport and the Delhi Mumbai Expressway through Ballabhgarh in Haryana is being developed. This involves the construction of a 31 kilometre expressway.

In 2019, Nitin Gadkari, the Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, instructed the NHAI to explore the feasibility of linking Jewar to the Delhi Mumbai Expressway at Ballabhgarh. This link road will facilitate connectivity between the Noida International Airport, Delhis Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport, and the regions in Haryana.

To support this significant project, the Gautam Budh Nagar administration has acquired 66.73 hectares of land, providing compensation of Rs 260 crore to the affected farmers.

Work on this project commenced in May 2023, and the NHAI aims to complete the connection within a year, coinciding with the anticipated operational date of the airport project in September 2024.

According to reports, the NHAI has disbursed the funds to the construction company in two installments. The first instalment amounts to Rs 358 crore, while the second is Rs 179 crore.
