Also, it is working towards a mechanism to aware citizens about various tax related schemes so that they can timely leverage them. MCD property tax in Delhi can be paid both offline and online.

Update As per the latest media reports, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has taken a strict stand against those who have not paid their property tax in years. The corporation has been sending out notices to MCD property tax defaulters, negligence of which may result in the sealing of their properties. The Municipal Value Committee has also suggested an increase in property taxes in the future in view of inflation. Whats more is MCD plans to use drone technology to accurately assess properties in industrial areas.

Paying property tax comes as a liability when you own a home. Every city has its own rules, rates and processes for paying property tax. In Delhi, the same is to be done at the end of every financial year. However, before you understand how to pay the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) property tax it is important to know the jurisdiction in which your property is situated. Delhi is divided into three jurisdictions North, South and East, and basis the dominion your property is situated in, the tax is to be paid. The MCD property tax system may become easier for property taxpayers. The corporation is working towards developing an effective mechanism that can make citizens aware of various tax related schemes. The new system would be simpler and easy to use. Additionally, the MCD has urged people to apply for the Samriddhi scheme, which allows residential properties to settle their five year dues. In the case of commercial properties, a person can get a waiver by paying the principal for the past six years.

How to pay MCD Property tax in Delhi online?
To pay property tax online, you need to visit the official property tax payment website mcdonline.nic.in
Click on Online Services from the right corner. Select zone and other details from the drop down menu. Click on Property Tax option. Login using your mobile number.
Therein, you will be asked to enter your property ID, which is a unique identification number given to each property in Delhi by the MCD. Your property ID can be found in previous property tax challan/receipts.
You can also search for your property ID on the websites of your respective jurisdiction. For this, you will require your colony name, property owners name and the type of property.

How to pay Property tax online without a property ID?
MCD has replaced property ID with Unique Property Identification Code which is a 15 digit alphanumeric code. Property tax payment without UPIC is not permitted. Those who do not have UPIC can contact the local MCD office to get their unique UPIC.

All three zonal websites have PTR forms available in both Hindi and English. These can be directly downloaded and used by the taxpayers.

MCD uniform Property tax
The uniform property tax policy for areas under the jurisdiction of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi came into effect on July 17, 2022. After the reunification of the three corporations, the MCD announced that a uniform property tax slab would apply to areas under its jurisdiction. Earlier the three corporations had different slabs.
