Following the completion of the local body elections, the Ghaziabad municipal corporation has begun the process of sending property tax bills, also known as house tax.

Ghaziabad city is divided into 5 zones, including Vasundhara, Mohan Nagar, Ghaziabad City, Vijay Nagar, and Kavi Nagar. According to officials, the tax invoices for approximately 450,000 of the expected 661,000 families in these zones have been generated, and the rest will be sent soon.

According to one of the officials, there will be a 10% increase in the newly generated property tax bills after a decision by the corporation board during a meeting that was held on 7 January 2023.A GIS survey and physical inspection were conducted last year for the remaining properties. The bills for these properties will be sent in the coming weeks, said Corporations Chief Tax Assessment Officer. Now, the bills are calculated on the basis of the annual rental value (ARV) per square foot of covered area.

Property tax revenue is estimated to be around 150 crore per year, with the incoming cash potentially doubling this year due to the inclusion of new properties. As per the government, there have been complaints of inflated bills, and property owners can file an appeal with the authority.
