Delhi Development Authority (DDA) is Planning to Launch New Housing Scheme for 23,000 Flats

The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) plans to launch a new housing scheme for 23,000 flats in June 2023. Under DDA, a scheme can only be launched after approval, as mentioned by the DDA member and BJP MLA Vijendra Gupta.

The majority of these flats are located near the Narela sub city. Also, the rate of the flats will be finalized post-approval of the scheme. Further, the flats will be allocated via computerized draw of lots.

The DDA is planning certain measures to improve the saleability of the new flats, including improving transportation infrastructure, an amalgamation of flats, allotment on first come first serve, development of UER II, and certain concessions to purchasers.

Earlier, the scheme was planned to be launched in May 2023. However, no meeting took place during May. Therefore the scheme wasnt discussed or approved by the DDA. Thus, the schemes launch has been deferred for approval in June.

As mentioned by the DDA officials, all 23,000 flats will not be put up for sale in one go. These newly constructed flats will be offered after studying the markets reaction. The housing policy will also change, most probably around mid-June.

The eligibility criteria for this housing scheme will be people who have a plot or flat in Delhi with an area of less than 67 square meters can apply. Earlier, the DDA regulations did not allow people to apply for an allotment if the person or a close family member owned any other flat or plot, irrespective of the area.

The DDA plans to put the existing sale of units on hold under the old housing scheme to avoid confusion. These will be put on hold for around one or two months. There are around 16,000 units under the old housing scheme.
