The initiation of the construction of civic amenities at the site of the Global City project is expected to commence in August. The Haryana State Industrial & Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC) has called for bids to auction three parcels of land, totalling 142.5 acres, with a combined minimum price of Rs 7,817 crore.
The Global City project will be implemented in two phases, covering a total area of 1,003 acres, situated in sectors 36B and 37B, along the ongoing construction of the Dwarka Expressway.
In the first phase, the HSIIDC will develop 570 acres, and within this portion, three land parcels measuring 78.5 acres, 23.8 acres, and 40.2 acres are up for grabs in the initial e auction. According to officials, the minimum price for the 78.5-acre parcel is approximately Rs 4,957 crore, for the 23.8-acre parcel is Rs 1,298 crore, and for the 40.2 acre parcel is Rs 1,562 crore.
Previously, the HSIIDC had estimated the cost of developing essential services and civic amenities at the project site to be Rs 758 crore. However, the revised estimate now stands at Rs 931 crore.
Nearly 50% of the total expenditure will be allocated to constructing a utility tunnel measuring 5.5 meters by 5.5 meters. This tunnel will be an integral part of the digging free city concept of Global City, ensuring that utilities can be maintained, repaired, renovated, or upgraded without the need to excavate the roads. As per officials, it will be the second city, after GIFT City in Ahmedabad, to implement such a utility tunnel.
According to Arun Garg, the deputy general manager of HSIIDC, the utility tunnel will eradicate the regular disturbances caused by road excavation for installing new services. Additionally, it will facilitate the future expansion of underground utilities without digging up the roads.
The Haryana government aims to establish Global City as the primary business district of Gurgaon, incorporating advanced technology, eco friendly infrastructure, and commercial and residential sectors. This mixed use project allows companies to develop office spaces, residential housing, and commercial complexes in a single location.
The HSIIDC is responsible for the development of Global City and will oversee the provision of roads, water supply, and other necessary arrangements. So far, the state government has organized five roundtable conferences to attract investments for the project, two held in Gurgaon, while two took place in Dubai and one in Mumbai.
